Syringes

Predominantly used in the pharmaceutical industry and associated laboratory testing and clinical trial work, syringes are usually made of either plastic or glass.

Most common application is to apply wrap-around labels around the barrel segment and for this they are best handled in a roller conveyor, laying down horizontal. Peel-and-reseal / “extended text” labels can be wrapped-around multiple times without skewing or coning, to allow additional information or multiple languages to be catered for.

The protruding finger supports, plunger and capped needle all need to be allowed for when handling the product through a labeller, to enable the product to be spun freely during label application.

Labelling accuracy is vital, so as not to obscure other features such as the pre-printed fill-level or dosage graduations.

Product may require pre-orientation to apply in registration.

Sometimes printing the Lot and Expiry date is required, along with optical camera verification equipment.

For low volumes, a semi-automatic multi-roller unit (MRU) may be all that is required.
