Paint Tins, Cans & Drums

Paint and other surface treatment products, usually produced in bulk containers.

Label applications are usually either front and back or a complete wrap-around. As the container size increases, so the label size usually also increases and the method of application changes too:-

A large, partial-wrap label onto a large diameter drum is usually best handled on a belt-driven O-ring applicator which then extends and presses the label onto the surface and expands around the circumference.

A small label onto a large drum can be applied without stopping the container and using a sprung-action dispense edge.

If the label(s) need to be applied in registration to a feature, printed mark or a weld-seam, then a gated three-roller unit will hold and turn the product until the point of registration is detected, allowing labels to be applied in the correct spot.

If a handle can obscure the area that requires labelling then special detection and orientation devices may be necessary and to lift the handle to stop it getting in the way or being damaged during labelling.

Hazardous products often carry labels containing hazchem warning text and symbols, required by law, explaining the product’s toxicity, flammability and corrosive properties along with correct usage and storage instructions.
