FOOD
Food labelling is often taken for granted by consumers but is vital to convey not only the product name, image and description but by law, must contain the relevant nutritional information, ingredients, allergy warnings, “best before” expiry dates and often traceability codes for the manufacturer, for batch traceability.
ALS supplies labelling systems to some of the biggest food manufacturers who sell through all the main retailers of the United Kingdom and Ireland, plus export around the World. Our customers include some of the biggest names such as: Arla Foods, Bakkavor, Baxters, Burtons Foods, Northern Foods, RHM, Manor Bakeries, Green Isle and many more.
Ensuring food product is labelled correctly is essential and often carries substantial penalties from both the retailer, if the barcode does not scan and the government, if the content is incorrect or misleading.
Food can be chilled, frozen or shelf-stable, packaged in either loose wrappings or rigid boxes or containers of all shapes and sizes - presenting a constant challenge for ALS to supply labelling equipment that can adapt with marketing and legislative changes. So while the manufacturer tries to make the presentation of their products look ever more appealing by thinking up new packaging shapes, it is left to the labelling experts such as ALS to design the systems to handle them.
Our challenge is to provide labelling machines that do all this but apply labels in the fastest, most accurate and efficient manner possible.
Special labelling considerations for food labelling:
- Tamper evident applications
- Expiry date coding
- Promotional labels: Booklet, multi-page, extended-text, peel-and-reseal, coupons, vouchers, collect and stick games
- Print and apply outer case barcode labels
- Pallet labelling
- IP65 environments - dusty or wet, wash-down areas
Case Studies:
Lubborn Cheese - Rounds and wedges
Rowse Honey - Honey & desert sauces
